It’s been a while and a lot has happened in my life since my last post. I have spent the last 2 years caring for my mother, a gift and at the same time, the most difficult thing I have ever done. She has passed on to new adventures and I am sure she is now rocking whatever comes next. The other change is that I have retired from work, and am looking to take advantage of the new found freedom.

Now begins Grandma Rocks the Park (GRP) 3.0. So what is different? No rushing, freedom of schedule, more options to go farther and for longer. My budget will look different. I will be on a “fixed income” – I am just newly retired, so I don’t really have that dialed in yet, but it will mean planning differently and more deliberately, and trying to identify and stick to budgets more diligently. The other change is that I am out of practice, out of shape and less confident about hitting the road.

So GRP 3.0 is going to be about regaining strength, courage and purpose. My goals for 3.0 are to travel often, connect with family and friends across the country, visit beautiful places and find more traveling companions to share in the fun.
What I learned about myself:
I’m not sure there has been enough distance and recovery for me to know what I learned from the realities of the last 2 years. I am hoping that time on the road will help me figure that out. I know that I now think differently about growing older, needing to take advantage of the time that is left to me (thanks Gandolf) and making sure I’m living to the fullest possible reality that I can.
Thoughts for you:
Kiss your mom!
Remember, get out there!
